Top 5 Wednesday- Summer Reads

Happy Wednesday and Happy Birthday to me. 28 years and I’m still figuring out myself and really embracing my love of literature. But back to why we are here, Top 5 is a weekly meme hosted by Sam over at Thoughts on Tomes . Each week is a different topic and this week is books as Summer Reads. Now it is supposed to be books that make you think about summer or books you love to read in the summer.

I am going to do my top 5 books I plan on reading this summer.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas

There are no words for how excited I am to go pick this up from the library. It is actually waiting on hold right now and it has taken all of my will power to not pick it up yet. I am really trying to finish some of the ones I already have out before I take out more. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO RHYSAND!

This One Summer by Mariko Tamaki

One of my goals this year was to read more graphic novels and for someone who has never read any until this year I can only go up. This book screams summer from the cover to the synopsis. I have heard nothing  but good about this book and can’t wait to read.

The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord

To be honest the first thing that drew me to this book was the cover. Green is my favorite color and it’s just beautiful. I read so much fantasy I need more contemporary in my life to even it out. From the reviews I’ve read this book is going to be amazing, I hope it is. Plus this is another perfect summer book, it takes place at a summer camp.

Fables by Bill Willingham

I am currently on Vol. 6 . So far these are my favorite graphic novels. I haven’t read many but I’m trying to expand my reading so I started these the end of last year. I’ve just been thinking about these a lot lately so it’s time to check them out again. I have Vol. 6 and 7 out at the moment.

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

This is actually what I am currently reading. I have been looking forward to this book for a long time and I already really like it. This could have easily been a one day read if life would let me. I love books where the mc is still discovering themselves and trying to balance life. As soon as I heard that it was being made into a movie I knew that time to read is now and I’m not regretting it.

Let me know your favorite summer reads and if you have any good comic recs in the comments!
