Why I’m Not Doing Challenges

Happy Friday everyone! I hope everyone has had an amazing week full of books.

At the beginning of the year I made tbrs for at least 4 different challenges with the goal of broadening my reading. Here we are in July and I have completely gotten rid of all of the challenges. I loved looking for books that matched the different criteria, it was fun. As the year has progressed I found myself not reading any of the books I had planned. They were mostly books I added to my tbr just because it fit into the challenge. Very few of them were actually books I wanted to read and when I did read them I usually ended up not finishing them or not liking them.

So I decided that it would be better for me to stop doing them. I have plenty of books from all types of genres, authors, etc. I mean my tbr is over 1,300 books on goodreads. I think I’ve got plenty to read. untitled.png

Does stressing over the books I have left in a challenge really benefit me in any way? No. It actually makes me want to read less and that’s not what I want.

I will still have my goodreads challenge goal but I have never stressed about not making that. I mostly use it to keep track of what I’ve read but I have really been trying to read as much as I can so setting a goal to work toward helps with that to me. So I’m just gonna keep on reading until I run out of things I WANT to read which will be never.

Do you do challenges? Why or why not? What are you favorite ones?
