Books I DNF in 2017

wrapup

I’ve already talked about the books I loved in 2017 so why not the ones I had trouble with.

Most of the time I DNF a book because it doesn’t keep my interest. I get bored, confused, and sometimes it turns into a funk and I dread picking anything up at all. I made myself a promise that I would stop forcing myself to read books that I’m not enjoying.  I have a total of 35 DNF books on Goodreads and 17 were from this year. Man, that seems like a lot when you write it out.

I’m really hoping I DNF less books next year.

  1. I’m curious: Why did you DNF Because You Love to Hate Me? It’s an anthology, so did you find that villain retellings just were not for you? So it was a safe bet you wouldn’t like ANY of the stories? ???

I can totally understand why you may have DNFed The Princess Bride, though. That is one book where the movie adaptation is truly better (for me). 🙂

    1. I tried to read all of the stories in Becuase You Love to Hate Me and all of them really didn’t work for me. I didn’t finish a single one. I don’t know if it was just the mood I was in or what but none of them really grabbed my attention.

The entire time I tried reading The Princess Bride I kept thinking about the movie. I love the movie but the book not so much.

  2. I was with you with Gilded Cage. It was just so slow, and I wasn’t feeling any of it. So sorry that you DNF’d with The Princess Bride. It’s interesting to compare it with the movie, but what the movie does so much better is consolidate it for an easier watch/read. Hope there are much less DNFs and more fantastic reads in 2018! 🙂
