Books I Didn’t Like in 2020

I’ve always done a post about what books I didn’t like or DNF and this year is no different, if anything I wanted to do it more with all the drama on book-twitter going on about these types of posts/videos. Sometimes there are reasons why we don’t like things and other times there’s just something we don’t click with and we just don’t like it. It happens. Not every book is going to be a hit. There’s a theme towards the end here of my kids liked them but for me they were just meh. What books have you read this year that you didn’t like?

Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente – Did not like the writing at all.

Twice in A Blue Moon by Christina Lauren – DNF at 15% was very creeped out and uncomfortable.

Malcolm X A Graphic Biography by Andrew Helfer – I’m planning on reading the actual autobiography by Malcolm X in 2021.

Red White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston – I’ve tried this a couple of times and just cannot get into it.

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang – I’m going planning on rereading this is 2021 with my physical copy I think I just wasn’t in a place for the audio book when I tried it.

The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren – DNF @ 67% did not like anything about this.

Saving Red by Sonya Sones – Didn’t like this either.

Black Hammer Vol 1 by Jeff Lemire – I didn’t like this but my kids do.

A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Canon Doyle – I didn’t leave any notes on this so I’m gonna go with I just didn’t like it.

Scott Pilgrim Vol 1 by Bryan Lee O’Mally – I didn’t like this but my kids do.

Goosebumps Horrors of the Witch House by Denton J. Tipton – I didn’t like this but my kids do.

The Scare School by R.L Stine – I didn’t like this but my kids do.

Christina Rossetti by K.E Sullivan – Maybe I just shouldn’t read poetry written in 1800s

Sparks Vol 1 by Ian Boothby – I didn’t like this but my kids do.

  1. I never thought to do my least favoruite reads of the year. I actually just did my top reads of 2020 post so I might have to do my least favoruite too! The only one I read here was a Study in Scarlett and that was for my University course so I didn’t have the choice. It was okay but it didn’t blow me away and the writing style wasn’t my favoruite. Great post ❤

  2. I think A Study in Scarlet can be a little hit and miss. I really liked it the first time I read it, but when I picked it up for a second time a couple of years ago, it wasn’t as good as I remembered.
